Focus on 'Closing the Loop' : Full Business Integration

You have a spreadsheet here and Joan from accounting has the spreadsheet on receivables that she keeps up to date, so you go to her to get the information you need at the time. You have an MES that production uses on the floor and you can't stomach the thought of and ERP implementation and the bloat that comes with it. Or you have an ERP system and you still don't have a full picture of what is going on in your business.
Do what you do best the way you do it!
The question to ask is, Will an implementation of an ERP or MES change what makes you, you? We all assume that the change will be for the better. Analysis on your business process and how it will have to change to adopt a system. If you are a smaller and newer company it may be easier to adopt a system and incorporate it into your business. If you have a proven process, you may be better off putting in a system that digitizes your current system that allows you to close the loop and get full business integration.
